A Matter of Perspective

January 14, 2013

A trial
By his peers
Was impossible
For he was
Older than
The seven seas
And far wiser
Than any who
Dared look at him
That day.
Adorned in orange
Like a flower
Ready to be picked.
Whose to say
Such an old
And wise man
Could have killed
Without justice?
For wasn’t he
The great grandfather
Of the poor girl
Who was raped
By the very police
Placing him on trial.

Guilty

June 9, 2012

Guilty.
A verdict
So often
Handed down
By those
Who think
They are
Correct.
Too often
It turns out
They don’t
Really know
What happened
Merely thinking
What is true.
Never caring
What they
Ruin.

Justice

March 24, 2012

Locked away
I cannot stay
I need a key
To set me free
Trapped in here
Full of fear
My life will run out
I do not doubt
Jailed for the crime
Of staying mime
No one was hurt
I just couldn’t avert
Now I am caged
And completely enraged
Justice was undone
They buried the gun.

Wrong Attitude

Free
To breath
Among us.
Free
For lack
Of Evidence.
Free
To do
As she pleases.
Free
Because of
Reasonable doubt.
Free
From the
Failed system.
Free
To walk
Our streets.
