Between the cracks

November 30, 2014

Floating around
From one group to the next
Never really fitting in
Too smart, too dumb
Too conservative, too artistic
Too innocent, too experienced
Too verbose, too quiet
Too happy , too sad
Unsure what to do
Unsure what to change
The clothes, the face
The endless emotion
The ebbs of apathy
The troughs of remorse
No matter which
I still don’t fit
Like OJ’s glove
I set them free
And in the end
I don’t know me

A wing on the floor
Is a terrible waste
Now it must be cleaned

Give up.
It isn’t worth.
The last breath.

Lost Love

November 27, 2014

One day
The keys
To the kingdom
Came crashing
Down the dark
and deadly
Never to be
Seen again
Much like
The fate
Of my love

This Girl

November 26, 2014

This girl
Oh this girl
She has
Oh she has
My world in a swirl.
This girl
Oh this girl
She’s got me goin
Oh she’s got me goin
Round her world.
This girl
Oh yeah
This girl
She drives me
With her curls
Yes this girl!

Sleeping giants rest
Waiting for the sun to shine
On their other cheeks

Master Fly

November 24, 2014

As the door opens
And the cold draft passes
As the man
With the thick beard
And rough face
Grabs a stool next to mine
And kicks up his feet
On the old and tarnished brass rail.
As I sit there and hear him
Order the usual jack and a pint
His type always does
I realize my friend
The bar stool prophet
Is no where to be found
And as I look over
At the mirror behind the bar
Sponsored by wild turkey
Or some other terrible brand
I see him smiling back at me
He raises his glass
As I do too
In a silent toast
To the pupil
The master.
