Middle Age

January 31, 2014

Family time changes
As we enter middle age
Caring for parents

Lips

January 30, 2014

One kiss on my lips
Reminds me that you love me
A perfect symbol

Recovering

January 29, 2014

The darkest corner
I ever did see
Was the one
Created by me.
The pain I felt
In those dark days
Shaped my world
In so many ways.
The bottom of bottle
The smoke from pipe
Learning to recover
And resolve my gripe.
It all built
Who I’ve become
Now it’s over
I’m glad it was done.

Alcoholism

January 28, 2014

Every ounce of pain
Matched with an ounce
Of deadly, dark liquor
Buzzing out reality.
But in the fallacy
The truth is clear
Until the foggy morning
When it is replaced
With regret and despair
Oh how unfair!
The cycle of sick
And wishing escape
Only the bottle calls loud
And the thirst is thick
Just one cure
Drink til your sick.
Forget the morning
Forget the night
Forget the pain
Forget the fright.
But in the haze
Of morning light
All the pain
Will re-ignite
Burning brighter
Then e’er before
Wishing you hadn’t
Opened that door.

Depression

January 27, 2014

Empty
Black
Burning pit
Fire and furry
Down
In the shit
Nothing
Infinite
Nothing
Dismal
Diseased
Ever entrapping
Oh save me please!

Art

January 26, 2014

Sometimes art reflects
Sometimes it has a real soul
Too often it doesn’t

Distractions

January 25, 2014

Distracted
The modern
State of mind
Never remembering
What was thought
Five seconds
Squirrel.
